Keanin Ayer is nearing promotion in Sweden with two games left while Mothiba’s Strasbourg fell to Marseille in France, reports Prince Sobayeni.


Percy Tau played for the last 22 minutes for Club Brugge as they continued their dominance in the Jupiler league with a narrow 1-0 victory against Royal Excel Mouscron to continue to command top spot in the league.

Lyle Foster’s Cercle Brugge’s woes continued as they lost 3-0 against Charleroi on Sunday evening which leaves them at the bottom of the log. The teenager played 68 minutes before being subbed.

In the Belgian second division, Kurt Abrahams and Westerlo continued their good start in the league with a solid 2-0 victory against newly relegated Lokeren in the Proximus league.


Lebo Mothiba was a 68th minute substitute for RC Strasbourg as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1. The Bafana Bafana striker is still looking for his first goal this season as the drought continues for him in France. He last scored a goal before the 2019 AFCON and needs that one goal to get his campaign back on track.

Lebogang Phiri played the full 90 minutes for his side EA Guingamp as they played out to a 0-0 draw in Ligue 2 which took them to 7th position in the log.


Kamohelo ‘The General’ Mokotjo played a very important 90 minutes as the “Bees” rallied from two goals behind to win 3-2 against Millwall in the Championship. Brentford have started picking up this season as they hope to get their much anticipated promotion.

Khanya Leshabela came on just after 21 minutes for Leicester City’s B team as they got a much needed 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League 2 to move up to 5th position on the log.


The only South African who was in action in Germany over the weekend Bradley Cross featured for the entire game for Schalke U19 as they bulldozed their town rivals Borussia Dortmund U19 4-0 in the U19 Bundesliga , Cross has been a regular for the youth side of the German side as he continues to grow in the ranks of the Germany giants.


It was Taca De Portugal Week and Thabo Cele got a chance to play against his former employers as Cova Di Piedade lost 4-0 against Benfica and the midfielder featured for the latter but couldn’t help them overcome their Lisbon neighbours on Friday.

Luther Singh continued to show his value for Moreirense this time coming off the bench to grab an assist as his team ran out 3-1 winners against lower division side Fabril Barreiro to advance to the next stage of the cup competition.

Kgaogelo Sekgota got a rare 90 minutes for Vitoria Setubal as they thrashed lower division side Aguias Do Moradal 5-0 to advance to the next round of the cup. The striker will hope to continue getting those minutes in the league as well.

After his star performance in the league a week ago against Piedade, Mihlali Mayambela came off the bench to play the last 21 minutes as Farense continued a good run of form with a solid 5-2 victory over top tier side Aves to send out a message to their rivals this season. Farense have started very well even in the league as they are in the top 3 clubs so far this season.

It is safe to say AC Milan women are becoming unstoppable in Serie A and this weekend the giants dispatched Tavagnacco 2-0 to stay top of the standings. South Africa’s Refiloe Jane was a rock in the midfield as usual with the midfielder playing 90 minutes for her side.


In what was a very dramatic game South African midfielder Hendrik Ekstein played the whole match for his side Sabah and he grabbed a very late equaliser to steal a point against Kesla in the league to continue his good start to the league this season.


In Sweden it seems Keanin Ayer and Varbergs Bois have all but secured promotion to the top division with just two games to go in the league after beating GAIS 1-0 in the league this past weekend.
