Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic says it is an encouraging development to hear that midfielders Emmanuel Banda and Edward Chilufya are in full team training at Swedish league club Djurgarden.
Sweden has implemented liberal public health guidelines despite the Coronavirus epidemic hitting hard their neighbours and the rest of Europe.
Djurgarden kick off their 2020/2021 season this weekend while the rest of the leagues across Europe are postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
“Edward Chilufya and Emanuel Banda are in full training at present and this coming Saturday are starting the Sweden premier league campaign after the second division kicked off earlier in this week,” Micho said.
“We in football are suffering as well so we need us as leaders to technically generate some positive energy to try and inject this in our players telling them that with discipline, seriousness and responsibility they should not be complacent in this terrible situation.”
Meanwhile, the Coronavirus pandemic has hit Micho’s work schedule after the 2021 AFCON qualifiers were postponed in March including April’s 2020 CHAN tournament in Cameroon due to the outbreak.
Micho’s only taste of action since his appointment in February was a March 12 friendly against Malawi whom Zambia beat 1-0 at home in Lusaka.
