Jomo Cosmos head coach and owner Jomo Sono says at this stage he is not worried whether the 2019/20 season get cancelled or not, with his only concern being the coronavirus pandemic.
Second from the bottom of the GladAfrica Championship table, Cosmos are currently staring relegation in the face with 22 points in 24 matches. If the season is cancelled ‘Ezenkosi’ will escaped relegation scot-free.
“Yes, to be honest I don’t want to jump the gun, it’s the (Premier Soccer League) executive that will decide,” said Sono.
“You know there’s people’s lives at stake here. I cannot be selfish and be thinking about the side of football because football is also people who are affected, and who can be affected, who can also die from this thing,” added Sono.
“So, when the league starts, I think the best is the league must start when this whole thing is finished. That’s all because we are dealing with lives here.”
Asked if he thought this season should be cancelled, he replied: “That I wouldn’t know that I would leave to the people who are in positions.
“I don’t care what it is, anything that is coming. I will support anything which is supported by the clubs,” he continued.
“To be honest it doesn’t bother me, at the moment as I said it’s about people’s lives you know. Whether there’s a relegation or no relegation to me it makes no difference,” concluded the Cosmos coach and owner.
