Cape Town Spurs and Casric drop points as title race heats up

Two title contenders Cape Town Spurs and Casric Stars, dropped crucial points as the Motsepe Foundation Championship title race heats up.

Casric Stars failed to claim a victory against relegated-threatened Black Leopards on Saturday, 18 March at the Malamulele Stadium in the National First Division.

The Free State-based side had an opportunity to move back to the summit of the table but they played to a 1-1 draw against Black Leopards.

Elsewhere, Cape Town Spurs suffered a shocking 2-1 loss against Pretoria Callies at Athlone Stadium on Sunday, 19 March.

Despite losing againts Callies, Spurs remain top of the table with 47 points, same number of points with second placed Casric Stars.

Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila failed to boost their chances of moving out of the relegation zone after losing 3-0 to Uthongathi on Saturday.

TTM is positioned 15th on the second-tier league log with 20 points, and they are two points away from Leopards, who are rooted at the basement of the log.

All Stars claimed back-to-back victories after beating Hungry Lions 3-0 at Tsakane Stadium on Saturday.

Prior to winning against Lions, All Stars defeated Uthongathi 2-0 at Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday, 15th of March.

Meanwhile, Venda Football Academy netted a late winner to beat Polokwane City 3-2 at Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Polokwane remain one of on the chasing peck for the automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.

Rise and Shine is positioned third on the Championship table with 46 points after 24 games played in the NFD.

Another Limpopo outfit, Baroka suffered a 1-0 loss to JDR Stars at Global Stadium on Saturday.
