Rulani gives injury update on Ribeiro, Morena, Mbule and 3 others

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has given an injury update on Lucas Ribeiro, Thapelo Morena, Sipho Mbule and other three Masandawana players ahead of their MTN8 final clash against Orlando Pirates.

The much-anticipated top 8 decider will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 7 October at 6:00 pm.

The two sides will be meeting for the second time this season having locked horns in the DStv Premiership. The Brazilians got the better of the Buccaneers, beating them 1-0 two weeks ago.

They will be going to the match without some of their key players with Sipho Mbule, Thapelo Morena and Bathusi Aubaas having been ruled out due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Lucas Ribeiro who’s slowly becoming a leading light for the Tshwane giants, will do a late fitness test. Thapelo Maseko is doubtful while Lesiba Nku has fully recovered.

MORENA AND MBULE OUT, LUCAS RIBEIRO TO GO FOR LATE FITNESS TEST

“Injury update, there’s a lot of work being done by the medical team and the rehab guys which is very, very good from the spot signs perspectives,” said Mokwena.

“We have only got a serious injury to Sipho Mbule who’s still out, Thapelo Morena out, Thapelo Maseko is doubtful, Aubaas is out, he will not make it, Nku is back, Lucas Ribeiro will do a late fitness test.

“So, that’s more or less what we have. The rest are okay and we have to manage the situation as it is. And I’m focused on mainly what is in the training pitch and what is available at this moment in time

“We don’t have to focus on the players that are not available.”

Meanwhile, for the Soweto giants, Thembinkosi Lorch, Vincent Pule and Olisa Ndah are said to have returned to training. However, it’s not clear whether they will be available for selection.
