Dan Malesela comments on links with a Joseph Molangoane reunion

Baroka FC coach Dan Malesela has clarified reports linking him with a reunion with his former midfielder Joseph Molangoane.

Molangoane has been without a club since parting ways with Marumo Gallants following their relegation from the DStv Premiership last season.

The former Kaizer Chiefs player was reportedly earmarked for the team manager role at Gallants but was surprisingly released. He has now resurfaced at newly promoted SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Sunrise FC as a player-coach.

But the 35-year-old was recently linked with a return to the PSL with Baroka as the possible destination.

“No, those are just stories,” said Malesela when asked about the possible signing of Molangoane.

‘We played a friendly match against his team. He is a player-coach, they gave us a nice friendly last weekend. He came with his team from Lephalale, Sunrise FC, they gave us a nice friendly.

“I could see that he still had something in him. But we didn’t talk about him playing here, no. We just had a friendly and that’s it,” explained Malesela.

BAROKA FC ON FIRE IN THE MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP

Baroka beat rivals Black Leopards 4-0 in the Limpopo derby on Sunday, a second successive win under Malesela in three matches. But the 58-year-old doesn’t want to get carried away and was optimistic the result would help with the player’s confidence.

“I would say one thing today and tomorrow things are somehow and whatever [about the performance]. I think what is good is the instructions that we gave at halftime and also what the substitutions took from what we said even on the field, coupled with what was said at halftime.

“The response was very good and we need to keep this going. When you score four goals in the third match, you then hope that it will raise a level of confidence,” he said.

Baroka will face Malesela’s former side Marumo Gallants in their next encounter on Friday, 27 October.
