Edmilson Dove shares his admiration for ‘genius’ Elias Pelembe

Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove has hailed Elias Pelembe as a genius and the best player to ever come out of Mozambique.

Both Dove and Pelembe were part of “The Mambas” squad that participated in the CAF AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.

They finished bottom of Group B, tied on two points with Ghana with both nations eliminated. At the age of 40, Pelembe was the oldest player at the AFCON tournament and featured in all three matches.

ELIAS PELEMBE HAILED AS THE BEST MOZAMBIQUE PLAYER

“It’s just amazing to see how he pushes himself. I always say this, to me he is probably the best Mozambique player that I have seen playing,” Dove told the Radio 2000 Sports Show Game On.

“The experience that he brings to the team as well it’s just amazing. He is a very simple guy that accommodates everyone that is around him. You can only learn and grow from everything that he reaches us and every young player that comes to the national team.

“I don’t know if I would ever find the right word to describe him. But that’s how we all look at him, he is a legend and there are certain things that you can’t take away,” explained Dove.

“He is a Genius, I think that is the word that I need to use when describing him. In Fact, despite being a good friend of mine, he is just amazing to see what he does with the ball when he has it.

“Sometimes when we are at training or playing friendlies, we ask ourselves how he even does that. It’s just amazing to see him still going and I am hoping he can still bless us with a few years before he retires.”

Pelembe is currently in the books of US Songo who are in the Mocambola in his native country.
