SuperSport edge CT City on penalties to book spot in Nedbank Cup Last 16

SuperSport United booked a spot in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 after edging Cape Town City FC 3-1 on penalties on Tuesday at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The tightly contested match had ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes of play. The two sides couldn’t be separated despite their efforts to find the back of the net many times.

Shandre Campbell was on target for SuperSport, while red-hot Khanyisa Mayo scored for City.

SuperSport academy graduate Shandre Campbell continued to impress in his debut season in the SA topflight. The 18-year-old has now scored three goals and provided four assists in 17 matches in all competitions.

Mayo on the other hand, has been on a great form in front of goal for City this campaign. The Bafana international has found the back of the net nine times, alongside two assists in 18 matches in all competitions.

KHANYA LESHABELA MAKES HIS CAPE TOWN CITY DEBUT

New signing Khanya Leshabela made his Cape Town City debut a day after he was announced. He came in as a second half substitute in the 70th minute.

Matsatsantsa’s victory on Tuesday evening saw them extend their dominance over the Citizens to two matches. The two sides have already met this campaign in the league and Gavin Hunt’s side won 1-0.
