Pablo Franco on whether ‘he feels’ pressure amid AmaZulu’s fluctuating form

AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin has responded to whether he “feels pressure” amid the club’s fluctuating form lately.

Usuthu have not tasted a victory in the DStv Premiership this year. They last collected maximum points in December last year when they defeated Royal AM 3-0.

They recently knocked out Thwihli Thwahla in the Nedbank Cup, beating them 1-0 in the Last 32.

During Martin’s tenure, the KZN side has collected eight wins from 24 matches in all competitions, drawing nine and losing seven.

After 20 league games, they sit 11th on the log standings having accumulated 24 points.

The Spanish tactician is of the opinion that pressure shouldn’t be associated with the coaching job.

He added that the whole team is sharing responsibility to deliver the desired results.

MARTIN – ‘PRESSURE IS FOR ONES WHO’RE FIGHTING IN A WAR’

“This is football, pressure is for the people who don’t have the opportunity to feed their children or the ones who are fighting in a war,” said Martin.

“In the end, this is an amazing job, we’re doing everything we can.

“So, I need to be calm and as I have told you at the beginning of the season, we played against Royal AM, we drew and now we won two games. The first one in the second round and the cup game [Nedbank Cup] as well.

“Then against Mamelodi Sundowns, we lost both [games] which is something you can expect.

“We’re trying to improve what we did in the first half of the season but the improvements are just coming from the technical staff and the players themselves [not head coach alone].

“This is a matter of responsibility and we have to share the responsibility. We need to do better, we can do better. We need to keep growing, that’s for sure.”

AmaZulu are next in action against Sekhukhune United on Thursday in the Nedbank Cup Last 16. The match is scheduled for 7 pm at New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
