Yet another player with South African parentage has emerged in Europe.
Portugal-based centre forward Andre Ricardo Pereira Schutte has been playing for Portuguese Primeira Liga side Rio Ave mostly with their U23 team until 2019 August where he made his first team debut for the senior team in a Europa league game against Jagiellonia Bialystok as Ave drew 4-4 in the UEFA club competition.
Schutte has been with Rio Ave since 2012 and before that was with FC Porto’s youth teams between 2008 and 2012.
He was born in Zeerust and moved to Porugal as a young child with his parents.
He plays mostly as a centre forward and has been promoted full time to the Rio Ave first team for the upcoming domestic season.
