Bidvest Wits Coach Gavin Hunt is optimistic his side can do well in both the domestic League and in the CAF Confederations Cup.

“With the squad that we have, jah, we can do it, I believe so. But it’s obviously gonna be very difficult hey, but let’s wait and see how it goes,” said Hunt.

The Clever Boys advanced to the group stages of the continent’s 2nd most elite club competition by beating Mozambican side UD Songo 8-1 on aggregate.

“Jah, obviously it’s a challenging competition. We’ve got a relatively small squad, but we’ll see what we can do.”

The names Hunt will be hoping shine in Africa.

The Braamfontein side now joins the likes of Nigerian giants Enyimba and Zanaco of Zambia in the group stages and this will be the club’s 1st appearance in the group stages of the continental competition.

Hunt is one of the most successful coaches in SA with 4 PSL League titles, and now says he will be looking to test his side against other fellow top clubs on the continent.

“This (CAF Confed Cup) is where I’d like to see their chatacter, obviously as I said, we have a small squad but this is where your character is tested,” he added.

Wits take on SuperSport United in their next ABSA Premiership match at Bidvest Stadium on Friday.

But will surely look forward to the CAF Confederations Cup draw which will be conducted in Cairo on Sunday, November 10.
