It was a weekend of mixed emotions for Mzansi’s stars abroad as leagues across Europe and Asia continued this past weekend with a few of our players involved in the action.
The Bafana Bafana striker made his 5th appearance for Korean K-league log leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors as they extended their lead at the top of the league with a 1-0 over Incheon United on Saturday afternoon.
Veldwijk is still fighting for his place in the starting line up after recovering from an injury he had sustained just before the season resumed.
Playing in his first game since last year December the U23 striker started on the left of the attack for Moreirense as they hosted Rio Ave in the Portuguese top division. Moreirense fought very hard but a first half penalty resulted in them losing 1-0 at home with Singh playing 73 minutes of the encounter before being subbed off.
The centre back who was recently named in the Liga Nos Team of the Week last week started yet again for SAD Belenenses and had to be substituted off in additional time as Belenenses played out to a 1-1 draw against Vitoria Guimaraes.
Phete seems to be a lucky charm for Belenenses since his arrival from Famalicao as they haven’t lost a game in which he gas started so far.
The former Bidvest Wits striker started for Danish second tier side HB Koge as they played out to a four-goal thriller away at Roskilde.
Koge came from behind twice including a 90th minute equaliser which salvaged a 2-2 draw – a point Koge took happily.
After coming on in the 67th minute of the game Links was a live wire for AGF Aarhus down the left side of the attack. In the 80th minute Links forced a save out of Brondby goalkeeper Marvin Schwabe as he was forced to go down to his right to push the ball our for a corner, eventually the two sides played out to a goalless draw at the Brondby Stadium which keeps Aarhus in third position on the log and in contention for a Europa League spot.
