GWP Friends FC who ended last season on fourth place in stream B of ABC Motsepe KwaZulu Natal League look to have a new man at the helm come next season.

With assistant coach Mafa Zuma already gone to reunite with Summerfield Dynamos FC, it remains to be seen if head coach Dominic Isaacs will continue his responsibilities.

Isaacs told FARPost that he is still in Cape Town, waiting for the team to call him for pre-season.

“I’m still with the club, but I’m in Cape Town now, we are waiting for the date to start training,” he said.

“As soon as the date is confirmed I’ll only start planning then, you know how this league is, sometimes we can even start in December. Mafa called me and explained his situation and I gave him my blessings, there is no hard feelings.

“I’m in contact with the owner of the club and I have not heard anything, maybe they are playing games. If it’s not coming from the boss it’s clearly not solid, so I’m waiting for them to call me,” said Isaacs.

It was no secret that the club management was not happy with the team’s performance last season, as they dropped crucial points towards the end of the season.

A source close to the team revealed to FARPost that Friends management are busy looking for a new coach and Isaacs is unlikely to return to Newlands East next season.

Sheldon Roux, who is rumored to be taking over from Isaacs confirmed that he has been approached by the club’s management but there is nothing concrete.

“No I’m not at Friends, they have spoken to me to coach the team but we have not made an agreement yet,” said Roux.

It is clear that Isaacs will not return to the club for next season as the management is busy looking for his replacement.

With Roux confirming that he was approached, it’s a matter of time before the club announces a new coach.
