Western Cape Champions Zizwe United caused the upset of the ABC Motsepe League national play-offs so far with a 2-1 win against one of the favourites, Polokwane City Rovers of North West.
Here is the wrap…
Rovers also missed two penalties, one in each half.
As it stands, Pretoria Callies lead the Group with three points, followed by Zizwe with the same number of points and Rovers bottom without a point.
Rovers will take on Callies in the last match of the Group and a winner between the two teams will secure a place in the semifinals.
Eastern Cape champions Bizana Pondo Chiefs paved their way into the semifinals of the play-offs following a 1-0 win against Limpopo champions, Mikhado.
The win makes it two out of two for Chiefs who will know their opponents by Wednesday.
Mikhado and Mangaung Unite can still qualify for the semifinals via a best second placed finish, depending on what transpires on Wednesday.
Northern Cape champs, Hungry Lions secured a 2-1 win against Mpumalanga United but the win might not be enough for them to go through to the semifinals. As it stands, Lions are second on the mini log having played their two matches and their fate will depend on how other teams play on Wednesday.
PLAYER OF THE DAY: Bulelani Cola (Zizwe United goalkeeper)
The 24-year-old was very key in ensuring that Zizwe get maximum points against City Rovers. Cola made some crucial saves on numerous occassions to deny Rovers who dominated the whole 90 minutes, including a penalty save in the first half.
