Egyptian retired footballer Mohamed Aboutrika will remain on his country’s terror watch list until 2023 along with 1, 528 other people.
This comes after the Egyptian court rejected an appeal to clear his name off the state terrorism list.
Aboutrika was first placed on observation back in 2017 as he’s accused of helping to finance the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood was outlawed in 2013, a few months after the army overthrew the Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.
The court’s verdict is final and cannot be appealed.
