Friday’s Supersport United vs Highlands Park clash was the 99th match played in the #AbsaPrem this season.

This means that the 100th PSL match of the season will take place this weekend, save
for an extraordinary Act of God.

When Baroka square off with Orlando Pirates and Black Leopards host Amazulu simultaneously on Saturday afternoon, these will be Match 100 and Match 101 respectively.

We take a look at the first 100 matches of the season, and some notable stats, starting off with the improved number of goals.

212 – There have been 210 goals scored in the AbsaPrem already this season, the highest
number of goals there have been at this stage of a season in the last three seasons.

189 – The number of goals scored after 100 games in the 2018/19 season.

195 – The number of goals scored after 100 games in the 2017/18 season.

91 – The 200th goal was scored by Sipho Mbule when Supersport faced Maritzburg two weeks
ago in what was the 91st PSL game of the season. That was the quickest it has taken all PSL teams to reach the 200-goal mark since 2016/17 when it took 87 games to reach 200 goals.

243 – The record highest number of goals scored after 100 matches in the 30-game PSL era
(2008/09), while 602 is the highest number of goals scored after a full 30-game PSL season
(2010/11).

2.14 – The number of goals per game scored in the #AbsaPrem this season. If the ratio is
maintained, then there will be on course for 514 goals altogether. Only twice before (499 in
2009/10 and 490 in 2017/18) have there been fewer than 500 goals in an entire season.

112 – The number of different goalscorers in the #AbsaPrem so far this season. With seven of
those scorers having more than 5 goals already, there is hope that the 10-goal mark will be
breached by multiple players this season. We may even get to see a 20-goal season from a
PSL player. Only twice in the last 6 seasons has there been more than two players reach
double-digits for goals scored in a full season (2014/15 and 2015/16). Goal timing.

Baroka vs Pirates

0 – Baroka are yet to win an #AbsaPrem match against Orlando Pirates since their promotion to the top-flight in 2016. Pirates are one of four PSL sides Baroka have never beaten, including Polokwane City, Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns.

4 – With 4 points, Pirates are the joint second worst team in the league away from home this
season, with Chippa (3 points) the only team with fewer points.

Leopards v AmaZulu

9 – AmaZulu have lost 10 games away from home in the #AbsaPrem this year alone, more than any other PSL side.

Cape Town City v Chippa

0 – Chippa have never kept a clean sheet in a league game against Cape Town City, the only
current PSL side against whom they have that record.

Chiefs v Celtic

1 – Chiefs have won just won just one of the last seven matches played against Celtic (D5 L1), failing to score on four occasions when the teams have met.

30 – This Kaizer Chiefs side is the first PSL side to collect more than 30 of their first 36
available points in the 30-game PSL era (2002>).

34 – A win for chiefs would give them 34 points, making them the first side to reach that total in their opening 13 games. The halfway point record for a PSL season is 37 points (Chiefs in 2014/15).

Polokwane v Maritzburg

7 – Polokwane City have now lost seven AbsaPrem games in a row, their longest ever run of
successive PSL top-flight defeats.
