Mohammed Salah and Ismaila Saar have been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.
Salah has been shortlisted for the accolade due to his outstanding performances in September.
He scored three goals in three league games last month. He found the back of the net against Brentford, Crystal Palace and Leeds United.
To win the award, the 29-year-old will have shrug off competition from five other players who have also been shortlisted. This includes Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin, Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger and Watford winger Ismaila Saar.
Saar has had a brilliant start to the new season scoring three goals to help the Hornets climb up to 12th spot on the table with seven points from six games.
He scored a brace against Norwich City before netting in a 1-1 draw against Newcastle last weekend.
The Africans will have to get more votes than Ronaldo who has returned to Manchester with a bang. The 36-year-old has been the main source of goals for the Red Devils and it would be a perfect come back if he can win this award.
Liverpool host reigning champions Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
