Ajax Cape Town will entertain Swallows at Rand Stadium in a top of the GladAfrica Championship clash on Tuesday afternoon at 13:00.

‘The Urban Warriors’ will be looking to get back to winning ways following their 1-0 defeat away to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Saturday with their lead at the top of the log standings cut to six points with four matches remaining.

In the first round, Second-placed Swallows won 3-2 at Dobsonville Stadium and Ajax coach Calvin Marlin says his boys are up for the challenge.

“We are now looking forward to Swallows, a nice big game for us. These are the types of games we play football for, championship games,” said Marlin.

Swallows narrowly edged out Real Kings 1-0 in their last game and a win today will see them close the gap on Ajax for the all-important automatic promotion spot to only three points.

“We are playing the team in second place on the log, the boys will be up for it. It is always nice to get a game soon after a loss. It is a big game for us and for them so it should be a very exciting game,” added Marlin.

In reflection of the TTM defeat, Marlin said, “We did alright in the game [versus TTM], it wasn’t one of our better games. In the final third we lacked a bit of spark and defensively we just made one mistake and they capitalized on that, after that it was purely counter-attack football from them as we pushed forward.

In other GladAfrica matches on Tuesday, Pretoria University will take on Richards Bay at the Johannesburg Stadium while TS Sporting will host Steenberg United at Tsakane Stadium.

Both encounters will start at 15:00.
