GladAfrica Championship log leaders Ajax Cape Town are in no rush to appoint a new head coach as their main focus is to win the League,.
Earlier this month the ‘Urban Warriors’ released a statement confirming the unexpected resignation of its Dutch coach Andries Ulderink.
Ulderink resigned due to the current suspension of former Head of Youth at Ikamva Hans Vonk and the refusal of CEO Ari Efstathiou to lift the suspension.
“For now, that’s not something on the table – it’s not in our plans now. We can finish the season the way we are, or we can finish with the new coach but it’s not an urgent matter,” said the club’s team manager, Thabiso “Shooz” Mekuto.
“The idea is to keep focused in terms of position and hold on until such time.”
Calvin Marlin and Dylan Dean were appointed as interim coaches while Ajax are still looking for a new coach.
The Cape-based side is on top of the second-tier League log with 42 points after playing 21 matches this season.
Mekuto also said they are keeping faith with the team that they currently have.
“The challenge is that football is not about the individual but about the team, so we have a faith in the team to do well in the league,” added Mekuto.
