Al Ahly have provided an injury update on Percy Tau.
The 27-year-old sustained a muscle injury just weeks after joining the Red Devils from English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.
Tau got injured while he was on international duty with Bafana Bafana earlier this month and got ruled out of the Egyptian Super Cup clash against El Gaish on Tuesday evening.
Speaking to the media ahead of the cup clash, team doctor Abu Abla gave an update on when the South African will resume training following the unexpected set-back.
“Percy Tau started his rehab and he will join the team’s full training in the coming two weeks.
“The player sustained a muscle injury during the match with South Africa earlier this month and the South African doctor told him it was a minor problem and that he could continue playing.”
After a goalless 120 minutes, Al Ahly eventually lost the Super Cup final 3-2 on penalties which has resulted in the coaching staff and players being fined 300 000 Egyptian pounds each ((R282 897).
Despite not having played competitive football in months, Tau has been included in coach Hugo Broos’s 34-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia.
