The Confederation of African Football (Caf) have announced that the draw for the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2022 Qualifiers will be held on Monday, May 10.
The draw is set to take place at the Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
This will be the 12th edition of the tournament following the cancellation of the 2020 event due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The competition is also used as a qualifier for the Fifa Women’s World Cup slated for Australia-New Zealand 2023.
“Because of the Covid19 pandemic, the draw will be closed to members of the media. However, it will be live on Caf digital platforms,” said the statement.
According to reports, 44 nations have entered to participate in this prestigious tournament – 20 more than the teams that entered for preliminaries for of the 2018 edition in Ghana.
Caf further stated that it will conduct two more draws on Monday: African Qualifiers for the Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 and the Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022.
