Amakhosi reach TKO semis, claim bragging rights too

Kaizer Chiefs have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2019 Telkom Knockout semi-finals following a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over
nemesis Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Fortune Makaringe opened the scoring for Pirates in the 35th minute to go to the interval with a 1-0 lead.

Pirates were dealt a big blow early in second half when defender Mthokozisi Dube received his matching orders after a second yellow card.

Amakhosi capitalised on the 10-man Buccaneers and found the equaliser through Leonardo Castro in the 62nd minute.

Lebo Manyama was named Man of the Match.

The match went on to extra-time and both sides managed to score a goal apiece through Daniel Cardoso (Penalty) and Gabadinho Mhango to take the match to a penalty shootout.

Chiefs Penalty takers: Cardoso, Billiat, Manyama and  Parker (all scored).

Pirates Penalty takers: Jele, Mhango (scored), Motshwari, Mabaso (saved).
