AmaZulu and their first-choice goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha are involved in new contract talks.
Mbatha’s contract will expire at the end of the current season but the AmaZulu are determined to keep the former Thanda Royal Zulu shot stopper at the club.
Mbatha has featured in 16 games in all competitions this season with four clean sheets to his name and he has played more games compared to the other goalkeepers at the club in Neil Boshoff and Moeneeb Josephs.
Team spokesperson Nhlanhla Brilliant Mkhathini told FARPost that it’s true that the negotiations for the new deal are ongoing.
“Yes, as you said it true his contract is coming to an end in June and the player and the team are in negotiations for a new contract. Yes, there are things we are looking at and it is looking positive,” said Mkhathini.
For now, I can’t say it’s for how many years or how long, but the negotiations are going on,” concluded Mkhathini.
