AmaZulu captain and central defender Tapelo Xoki has described assistant coach Moeneeb Josephs as “a good leader and motivator,” praising the veteran goalkeeper’s efforts and work at the club behind the scenes.
Before the 2019/20 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign was suspended indefinitely in mid-March 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Josephs, affectionately known as ‘Slim Kat’, was appointed assistant coach on an interim basis working alongside caretaker coach Ayanda Dlamini at ‘Usuthu’.
“Moeneeb is a very positive guy, who always motivates his teammates. It is good to have such a player in the team,” said Xoki.
“So, when we were told that he will be working with coach Ayanda, we were very happy with the management’s decision,” added the AmaZulu skipper.
Josephs, who served as the KwaZulu Natal giants’ third-choice goalkeeper in the current campaign has been influential in ensuring that the team remains motivated during these trying times, that’s according to Xoki.
“It was quite easy for Moeneeb to make the transition from player to coach because he is a good leader and motivator.
With the PSL’s plan on the return of the Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship approved by the government, ‘Usuthu’ will be looking to move away from the relegation zone as they occupy position 15th on the league standings, three points above 16th-placed Black Leopards.
The PSL is expected to spell out the details on the resumption of both training and play soon.
