AmaZulu is one the teams with a notable number of nominees for the Dstv Premiership awards for the 2020/21 season.
Two of their most consistent players this season in both the defence and midfield have reacted to be among the best in the league.
Captain Tapelo Xoki who has been nominated as the best defender alongside Musa Lebusa and Njabulo Ngcobo has revealed that he is privileged to be amongst the best three defenders in the entire Dstv Premiership.
“It’s such a privilege to be nominated for the defender of the season amongst so many top players in the PSL,” said Xoki.
“It means a lot to me, it tells me that the work I’ve put in has really shown. The last season episodes and struggles are far behind me, they also helped in terms of making sure that I push myself.”
“The technical staff that have come in have played a huge part in my game, I’ve developed and I’m still developing. I’ve taken in their help and the help of my teammates, because as much as I’m nominated I’m representing all the guys, our defenders in the team,” said Xoki.
Meanwhile the evergreen Makhehleni Makhaula, who has been solid in the holding midfielder role for Usuthu has been nominated alongside Themba Zwane and Rivaldo Coetzee also thanked his technical team.
“I had a really rough season last year because I was getting injured a lot, but I was pleased to get a contract at AmaZulu.”
“So the new technical team came, so everything changed so I played under coach Benni and his technical team and they also showed faith in me,” concluded Makhaula.
