After a successful season under the tutelage of Benni McCarthy, AmaZulu FC President and chairman Sandile Zungu could not hold his excitement when he announced the club’s individual awards for the season.
The initial date was 29 May, but due to PSL extending the season by a week, it meant the awards had to be postponed.
Usuthu management decided to hold the prestigious event on 5 June, but due to South Africa moving to level 2 of lockdown under Disaster Management, the club had to postpone again.
Under lock down level 2, no big events with people more than 200 indoors are allowed and the magnitude of the Usuthu event would fit that category.
The club released a statement to postpone once again their awards ceremony.
“Please be advised that our planned end of season awards originally planned for the 5th June 2021 have been moved to a later date due to the level 2 COVID-19 restrictions announced by the state President.
“This has been in order to observe the level 2 restrictions and to ensure the primary safety of our guests. AmaZulu Football Club will announce a new date in due course and will look forward to sharing our historical season with you,” said the statement.
It still unclear when the awards will take place, to honour the team’s heroic strides in the Dstv Premiership, by finishing second and qualifying for the CAF Champions League.
