AmaZulu in no hurry to sign Shonga

AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy says his club will take its time to assess free agent Justin Shonga, before they make a decision whether to sign him.

The Zambian striker has been training with Usuthu for more than a week and he featured in two matches of the Premier’s Cup over the past weekend.

McCarthy says they have more than five days to decide on whether to sign the former Orlando Pirates forward, as they prepare for the new season.

“We’ll have a look and obviously we’ve got a week to make a decision. So we are not in a hurry to add,” said McCarthy.

“But when there is a quality player and they are available, it costs us nothing to have a look at him and see if they fit in our team.

“So yes, we have a week or more to make a decision.”

Shonga has played for Cape Town City,  Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Orlando Pirates in the PSL.
