After playing their first match of CAF Champions League preliminary round at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium against Nyasa Big Bullets, AmaZulu have concluded a deal to use the Stadium for their home matches.
The club president Sandile Zungu told the media yesterday that they have entered into a three-year agreement with Ethekwini Metropolitan Municipality to use the Stadium.
“We are very excited to come back to Moses Mabhida Stadium, we thank the mayor for agreeing to this deal,” said Zungu.
“Ethekwini Metro has been good to us and we are happy to have this relationship with the mayor as AmaZulu.”
The club used Moses Mabhida Stadium for their home matches before they got relegated to the NFD in the 2014/15 season.
Usuthu have been playing their home matches at Johnsson Kings Park Stadium since their return to top flight football a few years ago.
Ethekwini mayor, Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda welcomed AmaZulu to the Stadium and wished them well for the season.
“We are pleased to have the club here, we look forward to enjoying this relationship with AmaZulu FC and we’ll continue supporting all the clubs in Durban,” said Kaunda.
Usuthu played their last match against Baroka FC at Kings Park Stadium and they are likely to host Kaizer Chiefs at their new home on 2 October in the Dstv Premiership match.
