Last season DStv Premiership runners-up AmaZulu have confirmed the acquisition of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko.
Moleko was recently released by Chiefs after spending nine seasons at the club.
The 31-year-old played over 103 matches for Amakhosi. Moleko’s arrival was revealed by head coach Benni McCarthy ahead of the MTN 8 quarterfinal match against Cape Town City on Sunday.
McCarthy also confirmed that the club will not be signing Zambian international striker Justin Shonga who has been training with the club for the past few weeks.
“We won’t be signing Justin (Shonga),” McCarthy told the media on Thursday.
“It’s unfortunate because I think the boy has a lot of quality, he is very good and if you can get him back to that level, fitness level and that so yeah, he is going to need time to get back to the fitness levels because he hasn’t played regular football for the past season.
“Every club that signs players, you sign players who come with immediate effect and hit the ground running straight away, not wait for one, two or three months’ time so yah that’s the nature of our business and unfortunately the player now has to suffer the consequences. So, he is no longer with us,” he explained. ‘
As revealed by FARPost, McCarthy also confirmed the arrival of Hendrick Ekstein.
“And obviously, we have finalised Pule Ekstein as well. These two players join our camp. So the team looks very stable, we look good,” said McCarthy.
