Mamelodi Sundowns winger Thapelo Morena is expected to be out for at least five months with an ankle injury, but he could make a speedy recovery.
Morena was injured about two weeks ago in their game against SuperSport United and according to their team doctor Dr Carl Tabane, he is expected to be out for between four to five months.
The club now thinks that’s too much of a time for Morena to be on the sidelines and have decided to bring in an American Orthopedic Surgeon, Barry Collins, to help speed up Morena’s healing process.
A source close to the team told FARPost that the surgeon was expected in the country on Thursday, February 27.
He added that for his services Collins has billed the billionaire’s Patrice Motsepe owned club R8-million.
“What I can tell you brother is that the doctor (surgeon) is coming. I don’t know how long he is going to be here but the aim is to get Morena heal faster,” the source said.
Contacted for a comment Sundowns media officer Shupi Kgadima refused to comment on the matter.
