Arjen Robben has called it quits from professional football for a second time in his playing career.
Robben had a stint with his first club FC Groningen after coming back from retirement.
The 37-year-old winger hung up his boots after leaving Bayern Munich in 2019.
The Dutch international also played for PSV, Chelsea, and Spanish giants, Real Madrid.
According to reports, injuries affected his comeback which led to his retirement.
“The football heart wanted to continue, especially with the ultimate goal of [playing in front of] a full Euroborg,” Robben told Groningen’s official website.
He won eight Bundesliga titles and coming fourth in the 2014 Ballon d’Or race.
The Bayern icon managed to score 37 goals for the Netherlands in 96 appearances before retiring internationally back in 2017.
