Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set to battle it out for the signature of RB Leipzig star, Marcel Sabitzer.
The Austria international has been linked with Spurs for a few months, but the Gunners could hijack the move from their London neighbours.
Arsenal have been given the greenlight to go and beat Tottenham to the signing of the attacking midfielder. It’s been months of speculation that the Austria international will make the move to Spurs, but nothing has materialized so far.
Spurs have been desperate to sign the midfielder, who has been in fine form for RB Leipzig while also producing some scintillating performances for his country.
Austria made it to the knockout round from their Euro 2020 group and were only knocked out after taking Italy to extra-time in their round of 16 clash.
According to Bild, Sabitzer has just a year left on his contract and RB Leipzig must sell to avoid losing one of their main players for nothing.
He has been a fine servant for the Bundesliga outfit over the years, making 227 appearances, scoring 52 goals and registering 42 assists.
Arsenal are also desperate for midfield options going into the transfer window after several players left at the end of June. Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard are returning to Real Madrid after their loan spells ended at the club.
While many are expected to be sold, including Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Sabitzer would be a cheap option that could arrive and bring instant quality to the team, while Manuel Locatelli has also been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
