Ghana defender Baba Rahman is expected to start pre-season training with Chelsea following his PAOK Thessaloniki loan spell which was successful.
Rahman has a contract with Chelsea until June 2022 and is obliged to return to the club. The 26-year-old was fairly decent during his six months with PAOK as he made 20 appearances and ended the season as a Greek Cup champion.
The Black Stars left-back will be assessed by Thomas Tuchel before a decision is taken about his future.
PAOK was his fourth club since joining Chelsea in 2015, following stints with Schalke 04 in Germany, French side Stade Reims and La Liga outfit Real Mallorca.
Rahman’s Chelsea career has been mired with injuries, including a cruciate ligament rupture in January 2017 that kept him out of action for almost 18 months.
With the quality that the Blues posses in defence, Rahman is expected to leave the club should any solid offer come in the current transfer window.
He has made 163 career appearances scoring five goals and assisting a further 13 strikes. His most appearances came in the colours of Schalke where he played 67 Bundesliga games. At Reims, he made 11 league appearances while he only has 15 Premier League games to his name for Chelsea.
Since making his debut in 2014, the defender has made 32 international appearances for Ghana scoring just one goal. He featured in the 2015 Afcon where the Black Stars finished as Runners-up to Ivory Coast.
