Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Lyle Lakay feels blessed to be part of the Bafana Bafana squad to face Sao Tome and Principe in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.
South Africa is in position three after two games with three points and is six points behind log leaders Ghana.
Lakay expressed his gratitude for being called up in the Bafana Bafana squad after his outstanding performance for Masandawana, who won a treble last season.
“It’s always a good feeling being called up to represent your country and it shows that I am doing well. There is always room for improvement and this call up is a huge confidence booster,” said Lakay.
He also revealed that “most of the guys that are in the national team have been here for some time and have the experience to do the job. For myself, I would say the experience I gained in the CAF Champions League will help me get the desired results in both games.”
Molefi Ntseki’s side will play Sao Tome in a doubleheader and will be hoping to collect maximum points to close the gap created by the log leader Ghana.
Kick off for tonight’s match is at 21:00.
