Bafana Bafana have played to a 1-1 draw with Namibia at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Thursday night.
Luther Singh put Bafana ahead after just 18 minutes, but Absalom Limbadi equalised for the visitors early in the second half.
Perhaps Bafana’s lacksture performance could be put down to a fairly new squad, with the starting eleven containing three debutants; Thibang Phete, Thabo Nodada and Siyethemba Sithebe.
Or Bafana were yet again simply not good enough against their neighbours.
Singh’s goal came after a pass from Kermit Erasmus, but Namibia were not letting up against the hosts and fought their way back into the friendly international.
Now Bafana’s focus has to turn to Zambia, who they face at the same venue on Sunday (15:00), which is also a friendly.
The Zambians have never been easy opponents for Bafana and despite missing many of their star men such as Lazarus Kambole and Clatous Chama of Kaizer Chiefs and Simba FC respectively, Chipolopolo may turn out to be more difficult opponents than Namibia.
Zambia are also now coached by former Orlando Pirates mentor Micho Sredojevic, who will have a good idea of what he’s facing from Molefi Ntseki’s boys.
Whatever happens, South Africans will be expecting Bafana to redeem themselves.
