The South African Football Association (SAFA) have announced that the camp has been hit with two more Covid-19 positive tests ahead of today’s COSAFA Cup semi-final encounter against Mozambique.
Bafana Bafana will take on the Mambas at Nelson Mandela Bay stadium in the second semi-final that starts at 17:00.
Following Thursday’s batch of Coronavirus tests, it has been reported that physiotherapist Nhlanhla Ndlovu, as well as midfielder Masilake Phohlongo, have tested positive.
Team Doctor Tshepo Molobi explains that despite every measure taken to safeguard the national team, nothing is however full proof.
“At this stage of the tournament to be without key members of the team is unfortunate. We have come so far as a unit and it does cause destabilization. However, we do know that there are measures already tried and tested in place, to ensure that the rest of the team stays safe to focus on the rest of the journey and that those who are sick get the care and treatment they need.”
Meanwhile, coaches Helman Mkhalele and Lucky Shiburi are no longer deemed infectious and have been cleared after undergoing the mandatory 10-day isolation.
