Baroka head coach Dylan Kerr has confirmed the signing of midfielder Ivan Mahangwahaya on a short-term contract until the end of the season, but with an option to renew.
Mahangwahaya joins from Bidvest Wits where he spent the first 6 months of the first round.
The 30-year-old spent 6 years at Black Leopards before joining the Clever Boys in July last year.
Kerr who worked together with Mahangwahaya at Leopards last season says the ball is in the players’ court now to cement a future at Baroka.
“Yeah he has signed until the end of the season” Kerr told FARPost.co.za.
“Look I mean Ivan is a good player it was my advice to the Chairman (David Thidiela) you know he needed to go find a new lease of life because he had been at Leopards for all his career,” said Kerr.
“I have challenged Ivan and it’s up to him now so if he wants to extend his contract at the end of the season then he must help keep Baroka in the Absa Premiership and earn himself a decent contract so it’s up to him now,” he added.
Meanwhile, former Orlando Pirates midfielder Khethokuhle Masuku who was on trial at Baroka has since left after the club decided against signing him.
