The Western Cape ABC Motsepe League outfit Batalion FC offered a helping hand with their annual take a child to school initiative.
Batalion players, management and Sivuyile Mgese supported by the Drakenstein community handed over school shoes to Honorable Mesuli Kama in support of his 5 000 school shoes campaign.
The simple fact that some families are facing deep financial hardships and as a result are not able to support their children with school uniforms, shoes and stationery is the reason the club decided to take a stand and assist the best way they could.
The side currently lie second in the provincial ABC League table with 14 points from seven outings, just one point behind log leaders, Glendene United.
The Mbekweni Township-based club will be hoping to put up a good fight and qualify for the ABC Motsepe League National playoffs at the end of the season.
Batalion’s next assignment will be against Hout Bay United on Saturday, 29 May at Mbekweni Stadium.
The game is set to start at 15:00 in the afternoon.
