Newly appointed Odisha FC head coach Stuart Baxter says he is looking forward to the challenge of the Indian Super League (ISL).
Odisha on Friday announced the appointment of Baxter, who resigned in his second stint as coach of Bafana Bafana nearly 11 months ago, as their new coach on a two-year contract.
“I’m pleased to say that Odisha FC and I have reached an agreement for the upcoming ISL season. Together we will bring joy and success to the region,” said Baxter.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of Indian football and the opportunity to develop players and coaches in India. I’d like to wish all the supporters, players and staff good health during these testing times,” added the former Kaizer Chiefs mentor.
Dr. Anil Sharma Founder and CEO of GMS (the parent company of Odisha FC) said that he is confident that the fans and the Odia community will be pleased with their decision and welcome Baxter to Odisha with open arms.

Baxter is familiar with Asian football as he coached Vissel Kobe for two stints in Japan, but this will be the first time he coaches in India.
