Following Njabulo Ngcobo’s cameo role as a number six for Bafana Bafana against Ghana earlier this week, his head coach at Kaizer Chiefs Stuart Baxter doesn’t rule out the possibility of also trying him at the position.
Ngcobo came on in the 77th minute for Mothobi Mvala and showed some quality signs of a regular midfielder.
The reigning PSL defender of the season has struggled to break into Baxter’s team at Amakhosi following his move from Swallows FC.
Speaking ahead of the much anticipated DStv Premiership clash against rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, Baxter said he would certainly consider the player for the midfield position if push comes to shove.
“Njabulo (Ngcobo) playing as a midfield player certainly he is comfortable enough on the ball to play there,” Baxter told the media on Thursday.
“Certainly, if we were to play in a certain way it would be an absolute possibility that he can okay as one of the midfield players.”
Baxter was also satisfied with the performances of Njabulo Blom who also came in with 13 minutes remaining.
“I think they all did really well on camp, they have come back quite fresh. What I saw of them their performances in the game were fine considering that they are new into a new squad,” he said.
