BCM Stars had to defeat two teams from Bizana to earn their place in the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs.
The side from East London made a late charge to the top of the log in Stream B after they overtook Sinenkani FC in the last three matches of the season.
Tshepo Motsoaneng’s troops defeated Sinenkani 2-0 in Buffalo City Stadium to clinch the top spot and subsequently win stream B.
That victory set them up against another Bizana side in Spear of the Nation FC, who were the favorites to win the provincial playoffs.
A well deserved 2-0 victory last week Saturday at Buffalo City Stadium against Spears proved to be enough for Stars in the first leg decider.
The second leg in Mount Ayliff Stadium produced a 1-1 draw between the two sides, giving BCM a 3-1 aggregate to advance to the national playoffs.
This will be Motsoaneng’s third national playoffs in a row, after leading Tornado FC and Bizana Pondo Chiefs in the last two seasons, in which he won one of them.
