Ismael Bennacer will miss AC Milan’s clash against AS Roma this weekend.
The Rossoneri will have to do battle without the services of the Algerian midfielder on Sunday evening. If they want to keep their title hopes alive, Milan will have to win majority of their remaining league games with their rivals Inter Milan three points ahead of them and leading the pack at the top of the log standings.
Croatian striker Mario Madzukic has also been ruled out of this game after sustaining a muscle pull.
The injuries are not serious and the medical team has indicated that the pair should be back in action when Milan hosts Udinese next Wednesday.
In the meantime, they will continue with the personalised sessions at least until the weekend early next week and then will rejoin the group, but their respective athletic and physical conditions will be monitored to avoid yet another relapse.
Bennacer has been unfortunate with injuries this season and coach Stefano Pioli will hope the versatile maestro will return to action as soon as possible.
The 23-year-old has come a long way since leaving France to join Arsenal in 2015. He went through the academy system of the Gunners for two years before a permanent move to Empoli in 2017.
After helping Empoli gain promotion to the Serie A, Milan snatched the midfielder and brought him to San Siro. He has featured 42 times for the Italian side scoring just once in the two seasons he has spent with the club.
Although he represented France at youth level, Bennacer opted to represent Algeria at senior level.
