AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy believes his side can go a step further than CAF Champions League runners up Kaizer Chiefs.
McCarthy was speaking at the unveiling ceremony of new players for Usuthu, when he stated that their signings will bring much needed stability in the squad.
The reigning DStv Premiership Coach of Season told the media and some dignitaries that his side are determined to stake their claim and represent the country in the continental showpiece.
“We are not going there to CAF to add numbers, we are going to compete, we see ourselves as contenders,” said McCarthy.
“What we did last season, finishing second in the league and what Kaizer Chiefs did, finishing as runners up in the Champions League then we can go all the way.
“No disrespect to anybody or Kaizer Chiefs, but if they can reach the final of the CAF Champions League, we can go one better than them,” continued the former Bafana Bafana striker.
“I’m genuine and not disrespecting anyone, we challenge ourselves every season and we’ve got what it takes.
“The players that are coming in, it’s what we generally needed to to boost our squad and be competitive on all fronts,” added McCarthy.
