With the Premier Soccer League (PSL) transfer window now open, Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat has reiterated that he is happy at Naturena and didn’t put in a transfer request at the beginning of the 2019/20 season as previously reported.
“I have to honour my contract, I am there (at Chiefs) and I am happy and I want to win trophies with the team especially now,” said Billat on Newzroom Afrika on Sunday evening.
“I didn’t know that before, that I requested to leave. Look there’s a lot of things that are being said, some I don’t even know.
Billiat’s teammate Willard Katsande was in full support of his teammate and was adamant that Billiat doesn’t want to leave Chiefs.
“You can start something like Ferguson is coaching Polokwane (City) and then you put it on Twitter, and it can start trending now like is somebody’s words,” said Katsande.
“Is a lie because he (Khama) is happy and obviously how can you hand over a transfer request and you didn’t hear about it like I said you can start something which is gonna go viral,” said Katsande.
In a statement, Chiefs said that Billiat is injured after aggravating his right hamstring during their clash against Maritzburg United on 22 December.
“He had a scan which showed a small area of inflammation. He is currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. He is expected to be out of action for approximately three weeks,” read the statement before their clash against SuperSport United at the weekend.
The Zimbabwean international has since missed five PSL games due to injuries.
Billiat added: “It is difficult, to be honest – it’s emotional. You try by all means to take it positively because there’s no other way you get to contribute while sitting at home, so you try by all means to talk to the guys. It’s not easy, you end up feeling like it is okay yet you have a duration of time you have to be out for certain reasons,” added Billiat.
Amakhosi are celebrating 50 years of existence as a club this year and Kemiso Motaung, Chiefs digital manager said that the team will be wearing their newly launched jersey on Wednesday when they take on Highlands Park at FNB stadium. The free tickets are no longer available.
“We have launched our 50th-year jersey. It is a third Jersey, we will be wearing this on the field on Wednesday and for several other games throughout the year. It is going to be available, it is the limited edition and the supporters will be able to buy the jersey from Monday in-store and online,” said Kemiso.
