SA midfielder Bongani Zungu has been urged to get back to France by one of Amiens’ senior executives.
The French Ligue 2’s vice-president Luigi Mulazzi has opened up about the Bafana Bafana midfielder’s situation.
Zungu is currently in South Africa after coming back for a holiday following his loan spell at Glasgow Rangers.
Due to some strict travel restrictions, the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has not been able to travel back to France to join his teammates for pre-season. This resulted in the anchor missing out on the entire pre-season camp with the regular Ligue 2 campaign set to begin this coming weekend.
Zungu has also been linked with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in recent weeks, but the comments of the vice-president suggest that the club intends to keep the 28-year-old.
Prior to leaving for Rangers last year, Zungu signed a one-year contract extension with Amiens which means he still has a year left on his current deal.
Speaking to French publication Courrier Piccard, Mulazzi said the club expects ‘Ben 10′ to return to France to do his job.
“He is part of the workforce, he is an employee of Amiens SC. He must be present at his workplace.”
Amiens kick-off their Ligue 2 season with a home game against Auxerre on Saturday evening.
