AmaZulu physiotherapist Ryan Coert has issued a positive update on Bonginkosi Ntuli’s recovery from a training-induced injury.
Ntuli, who was Usuthu’s main source of goals last season netting 13 of the club’s 20 league goals, is yet to feature in the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season.
According to Coert, the 29-year-old Ntuli along with Sphesihle Maduna have made good progress.
“Both Ntuli and Sphesihle Maduna Maduna suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture on both their left feet,” said Coert.
“We are currently using a machine called Osteotron, which helps speed up the healing of the bones with the fracture just a little bit.
“So, we are doing x-rays on a weekly basis to see the progress. Ntuli is doing very well, he is currently still on a moon boot, but we are hoping to get him out of it within the next week.
“Maduna suffered the same injury a week and a half after Ntuli’s injury so he will probably follow in the same progress soon and get off the moon boot and crutches. Then both can start running on the anti-gravity treadmill before they can start on the field again,” added Coert.
“Then Siphiwe Tshabalala sustained a thigh strain. We are still monitoring him, and he should be cleared soon.”
The KwaZulu Natal side will travel to Pretoria to face Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns in what will be their fourth league match on Sunday afternoon at Loftus Stadium.
