Zimbabwean international goalkeeper Washington Arubi has signed a new deal with the 2021 Nedbank Champions, Marumo Gallants on Monday, which will see him at the club until 2023.
Arubi, who was doing duty for his country at the recently concluded COSAFA Cup, has committed to a one-year with an option to renew.
There was uncertainty on whether the 35-year-old would remain at the club after receiving an offer from Tembisa club Sekhukhune United but the former SuperSport United goalie opted to remain with the Limpopo side.
Arubi who has been given some time off watched from the stands as his teammates played first Division side Pretoria Callies in a friendly match in Polokwane on Tuesday.
“Washington Arubi is still part of our team. We have reached an agreement and he signed his contract yesterday (Monday),” Gallants Media officer Rufus Matsena told FARPost.
“As to saying he is back to me sounds like he had gone somewhere. The only place that I know he had gone to was to represent his country at the COSAFA Cup. If there was any team that showed interest, well that is between him and the other teams that had an interest in him.
“But one thing that can be confirmed is that Washington Arubi is still part of Marumo Gallants and we signed for a year with an option and we look forward to continuing our working relationship with him,” added Matsena.
Meanwhile, this publication can confirm that King Ndlovu and Nicholas Motloung are set to sign on the dotted line on Tuesday.
The pair had been training with Gallants since last week and have reportedly impressed head coach Sebastien Migne and his technical team.
