Former Botswana Under 23 coach Daniel ‘Chicco’ Nare holds all the trumps with interest from Gaborone giants Township Rollers and Gaborone United.
The charismatic coach, who is currently in charge of Premiership club Security Systems, is on the radar of both clubs who are in search of head coaches.
Nare has done an exceptional job at Systems on a shoe-string budget and they sit in third place, two points adrift of log leaders – Jwaneng Galaxy.
Rollers’ Frank Nuttal recently left before the end of his contract, which would have expired at the end of June. On the other hand, Gaborone United are under caretaker coach Pontsho Moloi. The former Botswana international’s future at the club remains uncertain over his coaching credentials. Moloi, who was handed the Moyagoleele reigns in January, does not have the requisite CAF B Licence to coach a BTC Premier League club.
Nare insists he wants to see his contract through with Systems after signing a new deal with the club recently.
“I really do not know how to respond to the rumour mill, I do not know how to do so anymore. There has been no approach from any team,” Nare told Botswana Gazette.
He took over in 2018 when the club were battling relegation and saved them before finishing seventh the following season.
He boasts some vast experience having coached the likes of BMC FC, now known as Gilport Lions, Extension Gunners, Miscellaneous and Orapa United.
Nare recently revealed how Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane had impressed him. He reminisces on his encounter with the former Bafana Bafana manager in the past few years, saying they would call each other to exchange information on their respective national teams.
