Cape Town City have announced the return of Eric Tinkler as their new head coach.
Tinkler replaces Jan Olde Riekerink, who parted ways with the club on Friday after a string of poor results.
In his first stint with ‘The Citizens’ back in 2016, Tinkler clinched the Telkom Knockout before leaving the club to join SuperSport United in 2017 – where he won the MTN8.
“Cape Town City is delighted to confirm the appointment of Eric Tinkler as new first-team head coach on a four-year contract. The history maker, officially returns to the Mother City,” said the club in a statement.

The Bafana Bafana legend also coached Chippa United and Maritzburg United.
“This has always been one of my favourites stadiums (Cape Town Stadium),” said Tinkler in a video released by CT City on Monday.
“I was part of the beginnings of the club, its first season and it ended up being an absolutely fantastic season. And that will always stay in my memory for a very long time. And now obviously the task has to be greater .”
