Chippa United have announced the signing of two internationals in former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Anthony Laffor and Ayabulela Konqobe.
The duo have signed until the end of the season with an option of renewing their stay in Port Elizabeth for a further two seasons, the club said on Friday.
Laffor and Konqobe are available for selection as Chippa take on TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership clash at Mbombela Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
Chippa released a statement that reads as follows:
“Laffor, the 35-year-old Liberian international star, carries a decorated career in South Africa and on the continent with seven league titles as well as a CAF Champions League winner’s medal.
“Konqobe (23) is the former South African Under-20 national captain who is in his second spell with the Chilli Boys. He plays in both defence and midfield, as he returns after a stint playing in Finland.
“In officially unveiling the duo, coach Dan Malesela said: “I am thrilled to have the experience of both Anthony and Ayabulela to bolster our squad. We welcome them both to the Chilli Boys family, as we look at reinforcing in key positions, and also towards our ambitions for this season.”
“In further team updates, goalkeepers Ismail Watenga and Mlungisi Mazibuko, as well as assistant coach Siyabulela Gwambi, also form part of the travelling party for the fixture in Mbombela this weekend.
